Today is International Women’s Day!  

1893: Colorado is the first state to give women the right to vote!

1920: the 19th amendment is added to the constitution granting women the right to vote.

1921: Margaret Sanger creates the American Birth Control League, later becomes Planned Parenthood in 1942.

1960: Birth control pills are approved by the FDA.

1963: Equal Pay Act passes.

1973: Roe v. Wade: Women get the right to SAFE and legal abortions.

1976: Nebraska is the first state to make it ILLEGAL for a husband to rape his wife.

1978: It becomes illegal to discriminate against pregnant women in the workplace.

2009: Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act is passed.

I’m influenced by these powerful women: Oprah Winfrey, Madonna, Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Malala Yousafzai, Wendy Davis, Sarah Silverman, Sheryl Sandberg, Rosa Parks, Beyonce, my Mother, my Sister, my Mother-in-law, stay at home moms, working moms, the Aunts of the world.
